Not your ordinary auto service shop!

Let’s face it, being average means you’re as close to the bottom of the group as you are to the top. Our goal is to be the very best auto repair facility in the Laguna Niguel and surrounding area! We want to set the standard that other shops can only hope to strive for. Toward that objective, it is the aim of every member of the QualityMotors team to excel in high quality repairs, efficient production, and superior customer service.
A critical part of achieving this goal is the input we receive from valued customers like YOU. Good or bad, we want to hear how you think we’re doing. Any feedback we receive is shared throughout the shop and helps to guide us as we adjust to an ever-changing automotive industry. As your automotive needs evolve, we want to evolve along with them so that we continue to meet your needs and serve you efficiently. So please, let us know how we are doing and what is most important to you!
Also, please know that the greatest compliment we receive is when a customer refers a friend, family member, or co-worker to us. This display of trust is greatly appreciated, is never taken for granted, and motivates us each and every day to do even better. For those of you who pass our name along to others, thank you!
We appreciate the opportunity you give us to serve your automotive needs. Any time we can be of assistance please don’t hesitate to stop by or give us a call. We’re here for you!

Loosing Juice in your Battery?

Vehicle batteries have it rough. Extremes of temperature, humidity, and constant charging and discharging begin to wear a battery down from the very first time it is called upon to work. The problem is, batteries tend to work OK or not at all. Very seldom are you given fair warning that total failure is imminent. Vehicle batteries typically last no more than 3-5 years under normal operating conditions. After that, their ability to accept and hold a charge is compromised.
The next time you are in for service, ask us to perform a “load test” to determine the health of your vehicle’s charging system & battery.

Brake Fluid Should be Clear

Brake Fluid Should be Clear

Fresh engine oil is amber in color and turns black when it is dirty. Dirty brake fluid, on the other hand, looks just like clean engine oil. Why replace something that looks clean? How would brake fluid get dirty anyway? Doesn’t it just sit there and only move around a tiny bit when you step on the brakes? Why replace it at all? Is it important?

The fact is, no other fluid is more critical to your safety! (How would you stop without it?)

What many people don’t realize is that brake fluid is “hydroscopic.” This means it absorbs and retains water from the atmosphere. This moisture works its way through the hydraulic system and causes corrosion and deterioration of different components, which in turn pollute the fluid and change its color. This damage will also lead to leaks and other malfunctions with your braking system. In addition, water has a lower boiling point than brake fluid. During heavy braking scenarios, such as downhill braking, the moisture in your brake fluid can vaporize, resulting in a sudden (and dangerous) loss of braking performance. For these reasons, manufacturers recommend replacing your brake fluid at least every two years regardless of mileage.

Factory Recall Visits to the Dealer should be Free

Recall Visits to the Dealer should be Free

From time to time, many of our clients receive notices from the manufacturer notifying them of a recall situation. They are being instructed to take their vehicles to their local dealer to satisfy these recall notices. So far, no problem. Expecting nothing more than a free replacement of a defective part or some other update to their vehicle, owners are also receiving a “courtesy” inspection of the entire vehicle along with a laundry list of “urgent” customer charged repairs and services un-related to the recall notice.

This is a problem! Read on …
Based on the inspection reports that we have seen, much of the work being recommended is not needed at all, let alone urgent. It appears to be nothing more than a scare tactic to get you to spend money. Recalls should be FREE! If you experience this situation, please DO NOT authorize any repairs or services until you call Quality Motors at 364-3636 and let us review their recommendations and advise you accordingly.

Summer is here, are you and your BMW / MINI / Mercedes ready?

Now is the best time to get your vehicles ready for summer’s upcoming heat. Below is a quick checklist for ensuring your drives in the sun will be memorable ones for all the “right” reasons.

  • Brake pad and rotor wear should be checked to make sure they are within factory specifications. Brake fluid should
be clean and fresh. Damaged or worn out suspension parts should be replaced.
  • Worn out or damaged tires should be replaced and the wheel alignment checked. Shocks and struts also have a finite service life and can cause rapid or uneven tire wear, or worse, a loss of
control during sudden or evasive emergency maneuvers if they are worn out or not operating correctly.
  • Engine belts that are worn out, stretched, or damaged can suddenly fail and leave you stranded. In addition, some belt failures can be catastrophic to an engine. Replace belts before you “need” to!
  • Each of the various fluids and filters in your vehicle help protect a specific system. Keeping those filters and fluids fresh and clean will ensure a long and reliable automotive life.

Oil Service for short distance vehicles

Did you know that if your average drive is just a short hop to work, or frequent, quick errands, you may need to change your engine oil more often than the average driver?

The problem is, short trips around town don’t allow your car’s engine to adequately warm up to a temperature that can burn off all the contaminants and moisture that inevitably collect inside an engine. Instead, these contaminants build up in the engine’s oil, necessitating more frequent filter and oil changes.

Don’t believe those 10,000+ mile oil change claims! They are being made by people who only want to sell you a new vehicle.

Higher Standards …

You can get your vehicle repaired anywhere, right? After
all, parts are parts. Every shop in town must buy the same parts.
So what difference does it make who works on your car?
The answer lies in the question: “What difference does it
make who works on your car?” All the difference in the world!
The proper repair and care of your vehicle boils down to
people; the “who” is the most important part of this equation. While
parts are parts, people vary. You will not get the same personalized
service, experience, skill, or care from every shop. When you decide
on where to take your car, you are really making a people choice.
Your vehicles represent a major investment. For most, this
purchase is only exceeded in cost by a house. Do you want the
“cheapest” people you can find to work on your expensive car?
Or do you want the most professional people you can find? People
who care about your vehicle’s long term resale value, reliability,
and operating efficiency, and who have the experience, training,
skill, and commitment to deliver what you expect and deserve.
The choice is easy: Quality Motors.
This newsletter is just one way we can say thank you to all
our loyal customers and friends. Your satisfaction gives us purpose
and drives us to excel every day. We appreciate you. Thank you!

About those tires…

Your vehicle’s tires are expensive. You want them to last as long
as possible. So, what are the three most important things you can
do to ensure the longest possible life for your tires?

  •  Maintain proper tire pressure. Buy a high-quality tire gauge.
Then, each time you fill up with fuel, use the gauge to check the
pressure in each tire while the pump is running. The proper pressure
for your vehicle is listed on a tag in the driver’s door jamb.

  • Rotate your tires regularly. Front and rear tires wear
differently, and non-drive axles wear more unevenly than drive axles.
To even all this out, your tires should be rotated at regular intervals:
Every 7,500 miles is a general rule of thumb; or, for your convenience,
simply ask us to rotate the tires with each oil change.

  •  Do periodic alignment checks. Nothing can wear out your tires
faster than an alignment that is outside of factory specifications. Your
tires will literally be scrubbing against the road surface if all four of them
are not tracking one another perfectly, left to right, and front to rear.

Is car repair a commodity?

wrenchinainteasyIt is very hard to compare “apples to apples” when deciding
between auto repair shops. By contrast, when shopping around for
a new refrigerator, once you decide on a make and model you can
easily compare vendors based solely on price. The product itself
is exactly the same regardless of who you buy it from.
Car repair is different. Parts and material quality can vary
wildly, as can installation labor. There are plenty of cheap parts
and labor shortcuts a shop can take to get you the “best” price.
But is that really what you want? Is that the most important thing?
Second to a home, vehicles are the most costly items most
people will ever buy. To ensure the best return on this investment
(longest possible life, carefree operation and highest trade-in value),
proper care and quality repairs are critical. Cutting corners may save
you a few dollars up front, but it will cost you much more than you
save in the long run.
Before making any decisions that might take you away
from QualityMotors, always discuss it with us first—we won’t be
offended. If there are lower cost alternatives, we’ll tell you. If not,
we’ll tell you why not, and at least you’ll be making an informed
decision. One thing you can always count on is this: we will never
compromise your safety or the reliability of your vehicles just to
make a sale. You are too important to us for that.
