In China, the number 4 is considered bad luck
since it is pronounced the same as their word for
“death.” As such, you won’t find license plates
with that number in them, or bus numbers, or train
cars. They also skip the 4th floor, 14th floor, 24th
floor (any floor with a 4 in its number), in addition
to the 13th floor. So a fifty story building in China
might only have 35 actual levels.
