BMWBLog recently reviewed BMW’s new “proactive driving” technology. This new feature being added to new BMW vehicles software allows the cars to make more intelligent decisions in regards to automatic transmission selection. For instance, if a car pulls out in front of one of these BMWs, the car becomes aware of the driver’s new predicament and can keep the transmission in the correct gear to ensure the driver has the proper engine speed to get around the other car.

BMW’s possible design for the new 4-series Gran Coupe (4-door coupe thing) has appeared on the net as possible renderings for patent drawings posted on the “F30post” forum. It looks very similar to the normal 2-door 4-series, but has some elements seemingly taken from the 3-series GT Wagon / Van crossover vehicle. See more photos at Autoblog.

BMW tuner Alpina has just released their new “B4” model based on the standard BMW 4-series coupe. The new B4 has a 3 liter 6-cylinder engine with a twin-turbo. This car has been clocked at 0-60MPH in 4.2 seconds.

Bloomberg news reviews BMWs use of carbon fiber for savings of weight and fuel efficiency in the new plugin electric microcar i3, comparing them to other European car manufacturers in their strategy to be the king of new green tech in automotive performance.
Did you know that creating carbon fiber for the new BMW i3 involves stripping carbon atoms from acrylic threads, assembling mats from the carbon crystals and then injected with a plastic-based resin?
A spy video of the new BMW M3 sedan has been leaked onto Youtube, taken by a passing helmet cam on a motorcyclist.

BMW is recalling 76,200
- 2012-14 BMW 320i and 328i sedans,
- 2014 328i xDrive Sports wagons,
- 2012-13 BMW 528i sedans,
- 2013-14 BMW X1 sDrive28i and X1 xDrive28i SUVs,
- 2013-14 BMW X3 xDrive28i SUVs, and
- 2012-14 BMW Z4 sDrive28i sports cars.
All are equipped with BMW’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine and have exhibited a problem where a lack of oil in the brake system can cause the brakes to require much harder brake pedal pressure by the driver’s foot in order to slow / stop.
BMW will notify owners of defective cars by mail for immediate recall.
Hey, check out the replacement for the E87 1-series! It’s the new M235i, which won’t be available until model year 2015.
The normal 2-series will be released on October 25th, 2013, with the first in-depth views of the new model coming during the Detroit Auto show.

Federal safety regulators are performing a preliminary investigation on 2013 BMW 328i brake systems after receiving reports about malfunctions on that car specifically. A preliminary investigation is the first step in a possible recall, if regulators determine there are safety issues for BMW to address.
